Manufacturing process: A solid, heated steel billet is pierced through the center with a mandrel, creating a hollow tube. This tube is then rolled and stretched to the desired diameter and wall thickness.
No weld seam: The absence of a weld seam means there are no potential weak points, which is a major advantage over welded pipes.
Superior strength: Seamless pipes can withstand higher internal pressures, often up to 20% more than welded pipes of the same size and material grade.
Smooth surface: The manufacturing process can result in a smoother internal and external surface, which reduces friction and turbulence for better fluid flow.

Pros:
- No weld seam eliminates potential weak points and allows for higher pressure ratings
- A smooth interior surface reduces friction and turbulence for better flow characteristics
- Superior strength, durability and resistance to bending and impact forces
- Excellent corrosion resistance due to lack of weld seam
- Handles high temperatures and pressures well, making it ideal for critical oil & gas, chemical, and power applications
Applications
Seamless steel pipes are used in a wide range of critical applications due to their strength and reliability:
Oil and gas
Used for drilling, exploration, and transportation of hydrocarbons.
01
Power generation
Used in boilers and other high-pressure systems in power plants.
02
Hydraulic systems
Found in hydraulic cylinders and other systems requiring high pressure.
03
Automotive
Used in chassis, suspension systems, and engine components.
04
General manufacturing
Used for machine tools, bearings, and other structural parts.
05
Seamless pipes are made through a hot working process without welding. The main steps are:
1.A solid round steel billet is heated in a rotary hearth furnace to around 1204C/2200F.
2.The red-hot billet is then pierced through the center using a piercer point to create a hollow tube.
3.The hollow tube passes through a plug mill, where a mandrel is inserted. The tube is then rolled to reduce the wall thickness and increase the length.
4.The pipe is then passed through sizing stands to achieve the final dimensions.
5.After cooling, the pipe is straightened, cut to length, tested, and shipped.

Types of Seamless Steel Pipes and Tubes
Seamless pipes and tubes can be categorized by material, production method and wall thickness.

By material:
Low-Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes: Made from steels such as 10 or 20, these pipes are commonly used for water, oil and gas pipelines because they offer good corrosion resistance and efficient flow.
Medium-Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes: Using steels such as 45 or 40Cr, they provide higher strength and toughness, making them suitable for mechanical parts in vehicles and tractors.
Low-Alloy Structural Steel Seamless Pipes: Grades like 16Mn and 5MnV offer excellent welding performance and loadbearing capacity, so they are used in bridges and buildings.
Alloy Steel Seamless Pipes: Pipes made from alloy steels (e.g., 40Cr, 30CrMnSi, 45Mn2) have high hardness and wear resistance and are used in critical components such as gears and shafts.
Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes: These pipes contain chromium, nickel or molybdenum; they resist corrosion and are widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
By Production Process:
Hot-Rolled Seamless Pipes: Typically used for large-diameter, thick-walled pipes; the billet is heated and processed at high temperature.
Cold-Rolled Seamless Pipes: Cold rolling provides precise dimensions and smooth surfaces, making these pipes suitable for high-precision applications.
Cold-Drawn Seamless Pipes: Producing thin-walled pipes with tight tolerances, cold drawing is ideal for hydraulic systems or machinery requiring accurate dimensions.
