Internal FBE Coating Pipe
| Coating Type | Fusion-Bonded Epoxy (FBE) internal lining |
| Standards | AWWA A210 / C210, ISO 21809-2 |
| Coating Thickness | 250–500 μm typical |
| Operating Temp | Up to 95°C (special grades to 120°C) |
Technical Properties
| Coating Thickness | Typically 250–500 μm, depending on service requirements. |
| Max. Operating Temperature | up to 95°C continuous (higher grades up to 120°C). |
| Adhesion Strength | Excellent adhesion to substrate, resistant to under-film corrosion. |
| Chemical Resistance | Strong resistance to hydrocarbons, saline water, H₂S, and CO₂. |
| Friction Factor | Smooth surface reduces pipeline pressure drop by 15–25%. |
Advantages of Internal FBE Coating
This coating can withstand high temperatures.
This coating is resistant to corrosion.
It may be applied to pipes with diameters ranging from 2 to 48 inches.
It is ideal for a variety of thicknesses.
It has chemical resistance in soil conditions and good resilience to impact.
Application Process
Surface Preparation
Thoroughly clean using abrasive blasting to remove rust and contaminants, to achieve a roughness value of 50-100 microns.
Heating
Induction or oven heat the pipe to 180-250°C.
Coating
Use a spray gun to apply the FBE powder uniformly while the pipe rotates.
Curing
The melted powder forms a solid coating through chemical cross-linking that results in a durable protective layer.

Coating Technology

Epoxy Powder Coating
Electrostatic Spraying: Applicable to large-diameter pipes (DN200-1200), with a film thickness tolerance of ±15μm.
Vacuum Coating: Applicable to pipes (DN50-200), with a film thickness tolerance of ±8μm.
Example: A natural gas pipeline in the Middle East with a DN1420 pipe was coated with FBE, reducing the friction coefficient to 0.013.
Liquid Coating
High-Pressure Airless Spraying: A one-step film-forming technology with a film thickness of 150-500μm. Application speed is relatively fast.
