ABOUT US

Customer Commitment
Laboratory & Material Verification
To keep project materials consistent and traceable, we implement material verification and laboratory testing according to the project ITP and applicable standards. In addition to PMI for grade confirmation, we run coating and mechanical verification tests using dedicated equipment, and compile all records into the final document package for customer review and shipment release.
PMI (Spectrometer) verification
We perform PMI checks on stainless and alloy items to confirm the material grade against the purchase specification, then link the result to the heat/batch identification and packing list for traceability.
Chemical composition confirmation (laboratory verification)
When chemistry verification is required by the ITP, we confirm composition through a traceable lab route linked to the same heat/batch ID. In addition to checking MTC values, Octal Pipe can perform instrument-based verification using laboratory equipment to confirm key alloying elements and reduce the risk of mixed heats.
Example: For stainless items, Octal Pipe can use an OES (Optical Emission Spectrometer) to verify major alloying elements such as Cr, Ni, Mo, Mn, and Si. For nitrogen-strengthened austenitic grades (e.g., UNS S20910 / XM-19), Octal Pipe can also verify N (nitrogen) using an appropriate nitrogen analyzer as required by the inspection plan. The lab result is then recorded and matched to the heat number / batch marking in the final document package before shipment release.
Mechanical test coordination (when specified)
For projects requiring mechanical verification, we coordinate and record tests such as tensile, impact, and hardness, aligned with the PSL level, low-temperature requirements, and the customer's acceptance criteria.
Coating inspection & performance testing (coated items)
For coated pipe and fittings, we provide coating QC evidence and performance validation using coating-specific test equipment, such as:
QHG pipeline coating scratch tester: used to evaluate scratch resistance and assess how the coating performs under mechanical contact during handling and field installation.
Drop weight tear test machine (DWTT): used to evaluate tear resistance / fracture behavior under dynamic loading (when required by the inspection plan).
Impact testing machine: used to assess impact resistance of materials or coated systems, supporting acceptance for handling and installation risks.
Environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR) tester: used to evaluate environmental stress cracking performance for applicable polymer-based systems or materials where ESCR is part of the ITP.
Holiday detection & thickness control (when included in ITP)
We record DFT (dry film thickness) results and perform holiday detection where applicable, to confirm continuity of the coating barrier and reduce the risk of pinhole/holidays before shipment.
All verification results-PMI records, inspection checklists, coating test evidence, and related reports-are consolidated into the final document package and matched with the shipment labels and packing list to ensure a clear and auditable traceability chain.
Inspection Workflow (ITP-Driven) & Third-Party Witness Services (BV / SGS / DNV)

We execute inspection under one contract / one ITP / one document package, with checkpoints designed to reduce site-rejection risk. For projects requiring independent verification, we also coordinate third-party inspection and witnessing by BV (Bureau Veritas), SGS, or DNV, with witness points aligned to the ITP.
Typical inspection checkpoints (with third-party witness options) include:
Pre-production review (ITP confirmation)
Confirming the applicable standard, grade, PSL level, end type, test scope, and acceptance criteria before production.
Third-party scope (if required): review of ITP checkpoints, test plan, and document checklist.
Dimensional & visual inspection
Verification of OD / WT / length, end finish (PE/BE), bevel geometry, surface condition, and edge/burr control.
Third-party witness (BV/SGS/DNV): sampling-based dimension check, visual examination, and confirmation of marking/identification against order details.
NDT coordination (UT / RT / MT / PT)
NDT is arranged as specified in the contract/standard, and inspection records are linked to the heat/batch identification.
Example: For welded pipe orders, UT can focus on the weld seam and pipe ends based on the ITP scope.
Third-party witness (BV/SGS/DNV): witness of NDT execution, review of NDT reports, and confirmation that the NDT scope matches the ITP.
Hydrostatic test verification (when required)
Hydro-test execution is verified and documented, with traceable records included in the final document package.
Third-party witness (BV/SGS/DNV): witness of hydro-test setup and results, and confirmation of test pressure/hold time per the ITP.
Thread & connection checks (OCTG / threaded items)
Verification of thread gauge, coupling match, and marking consistency where applicable.
Third-party witness (BV/SGS/DNV): witness of thread gauging and sampling checks for coupling fit and identification.
Final inspection, packing witness & shipment release
Final status check for inspection completion + packing readiness + document alignment.
Third-party witness (BV/SGS/DNV): witness of final inspection and packing (bundle/tag verification, packing list match), then issuance of an inspection release note or report aligned with the shipment document package.
All inspection records, third-party reports (when applicable), and supporting photos (when required) are consolidated into the final document package, ensuring a clear evidence chain for faster receiving inspection and fewer disputes.

Packing, Labeling & Shipment Release

Bundling and Packaging
We treat packing as the final quality-control step, not just logistics. Before dispatch, we confirm product protection, labeling accuracy, and documentation consistency to reduce transit damage and shorten receiving inspection time. Pipe is grouped by OD/WT/length to keep bundles stable and reduce deformation risk. We select steel strapping and lifting points suitable for bundle weight and handling, and apply end caps/protectors to prevent bevel damage and contamination. For coated items, we add wrapping/separation to reduce abrasion, and for fittings or smaller components we use wooden cases with internal protection to prevent collision damage.
Port
Before the cargo moves to port, we complete a traceability and readiness check so the shipment arrives in a port-ready condition. We verify product marking (grade / size / standard / heat or batch reference) is clear and consistent, then match bundle tags and case labels to the packing list line items. Heat/batch references are cross-checked against MTCs so receiving teams can trace each bundle directly. Where route or destination requires it (e.g., long sea transit), we apply moisture-control measures to protect coated and finished surfaces during staging and handling.

Loading Onto Ship
Prior to container stuffing and vessel loading, we perform a pre-loading verification as a final gate. Each bundle/tag is checked against the packing list, end protection is confirmed in place, and coated items are reviewed to ensure wrapping remains intact. We verify the shipment document pack is complete-MTCs, inspection records, and third-party report (if required)-and then confirm the cargo is secured using appropriate lashing/strapping to minimize shifting risk during ocean transport.
Shipment
Shipment is released only after three conditions are aligned: (1) inspection status is closed, (2) packing status is confirmed, and (3) the final document package is compiled and matched to shipment labels and the packing list. Once dispatched, the shipment remains traceable through the heat/batch-linked packing list and supporting records, enabling faster receiving inspection and fewer discrepancies on arrival.

In summary
What makes Octal Pipe different is our focus on project requirements rather than simple product supply. Many orders involve multiple standards, grades, and specifications, so we coordinate unified production, inspection, and documentation-delivering all materials under one contract, one ITP, and one complete document package. This approach helps buyers reduce technical risks, mismatched certificates, and logistical coordination work.
Our products are fully traceable and supplied with mill certificates, supported by Octal Pipe's ISO 9001 and API Q1 quality management system. We also hold CE certification and classification society approvals such as ABS for applicable products. These certifications are applied throughout our workflow-from reviewing specifications to inspection, documentation control, and final shipment release.
Before production, our engineering team reviews RFQs and project specifications, confirming PSL levels, impact test requirements, NACE/ISO 15156 restrictions, test scopes, and inspection details. This upfront verification prevents common issues that lead to delays or site rejections.
Risk control is implemented throughout sourcing, inspection, packing, and shipment planning. With long‑term partnerships with major mills and maintained inventories of common items, we support both scheduled projects and urgent deliveries.
Our team provides direct technical support, including material selection, standards clarification, ITP preparation, and coordination of third‑party inspections such as BV, SGS, and DNV. For export projects, we consolidate materials from multiple mills into consistent packing and documentation so clients receive a complete, clear, and project‑ready dossier.
Octal Pipe's objective is straightforward: supply materials that meet project standards, solve real procurement challenges, and reduce operational risks for our clients in the energy, oil & gas, and industrial sectors.
