Product Introduction

Impact Crusher Product Introduction

An impact crusher is a crushing machine that uses high-speed impact force to break medium-hard and relatively low-abrasive materials into smaller, more uniform particles. Instead of relying mainly on compression, it uses a rotating rotor and blow bars to strike the feed material, then throws it against impact plates for repeated crushing. This working method makes it suitable for secondary crushing, aggregate shaping and recycling applications where good particle shape and adjustable discharge size are important.

The PF series impact crusher is commonly used for limestone, dolomite, concrete waste, asphalt, coal gangue and other medium-hard materials in quarry, mining, road construction, cement material processing and recycling projects. Its main structure includes the rotor, blow bars, impact plates, side liners, frame, bearings and drive system. Model selection should be based on feed size, required capacity, discharge size, material abrasiveness, installation type and the complete crushing line layout.

The specification table should be used as a model selection reference. Actual output may change with material hardness, moisture, feed gradation, rotor speed, blow bar wear, discharge setting and feeding continuity. For stable production, the feed opening, maximum feeding side length and required discharge size should be reviewed together.

How an Impact Crusher Works

The impact crusher working process is based on rotor impact and repeated material collision. Material enters the crushing chamber through the feed opening. The rotor drives the blow bars at high speed, and the blow bars strike the material directly. The material is then thrown toward the impact plate, broken again, and returned into the impact area until it reaches the required discharge size.

The following 2D working principle animation shows how large feed material enters the impact crusher, is struck by the blow bars, rebounds against the impact plates, and exits through the discharge opening after repeated crushing.

impact-crusher-working-principle-gif

Working Step Crushing Action What It Controls
Feeding Material enters the crushing chamber Feed stability and chamber load
Rotor impact Blow bars strike the material Reduction ratio and crushing efficiency
Impact plate collision Material hits the impact plate Secondary breaking and particle shape
Repeated crushing Material rebounds inside the chamber Final size and cubic shape
Discharge adjustment Material exits after reaching the required size Output gradation and screen matching

This working principle makes the machine suitable for aggregate shaping and recycling crushing. However, because the crushing force comes from high-speed impact, wear-part selection and chamber adjustment are very important.

Impact Crusher Crushing Stages and Key Control Points

 Main Impact Crusher Parts

Reliable impact crusher parts help maintain stable output, reduce downtime and control long-term operating cost. When comparing machines, customers should not only look at the main frame and motor, but also check the rotor structure, blow bar material, liner protection and adjustment system.

Impact Crusher Part Function Inspection or Buying Note
Rotor Carries blow bars and generates impact force Check structure, balance and fastening system
Blow bar Strikes and breaks the feed material Select material according to hardness and abrasiveness
Impact plate Receives material impact and supports secondary crushing Check wear surface and adjustment range
Side liner Protects chamber side wall Should be replaceable for high-wear applications
Main shaft Supports rotor rotation Check machining accuracy and bearing fit
Bearing Supports high-speed operation Lubrication and temperature control are important
Frame Provides structural support Check welding, rigidity and access doors
Drive system Transfers motor power to rotor Check belt, pulley, motor and guard arrangement
Adjustment device Controls discharge gap Affects final product size and maintenance convenience

Impact Crusher Blow Bar Selection

The impact crusher blow bar is the main wear part mounted on the rotor. It directly contacts the feed material, so its material choice affects crushing efficiency, wear life and maintenance cost.

Blow Bar Material Suitable Application Selection Note
High manganese steel Strong impact condition, less abrasive feed Better toughness, but shorter wear life on abrasive stone
High chrome cast iron Limestone, asphalt, concrete recycling Good wear resistance when tramp iron risk is low
Martensitic steel Mixed crushing conditions Balanced toughness and wear resistance
Ceramic insert blow bar Selected abrasive applications Longer wear life, but feed condition must be controlled

For limestone crushing, high chrome blow bars are often selected because they provide good wear resistance. For concrete recycling, demolition waste or mixed feed, tramp iron risk should be checked before choosing the blow bar material. A wrong blow bar selection may cause early wear, breakage or unstable production.

Stationary and Mobile Impact Crusher Options

A stationary impact crusher is suitable for long-term quarry, aggregate and cement material crushing lines. It is usually installed with a separate feeder, conveyor and vibrating screen.

A mobile impact crusher is more suitable for temporary sites, recycling projects and road construction where equipment needs to move between working locations. It usually integrates feeding, crushing, conveying and control systems on one mobile chassis.

Item Stationary Impact Crusher Mobile Impact Crusher
Best Application Long-term aggregate or quarry plant Temporary site or multi-site project
Installation Requires foundation and plant layout Faster setup and relocation
Equipment Scope Main crusher with separate auxiliary equipment Integrated feeder, crusher and conveyor
Cost Focus Lower single-machine cost Higher mobility and integration value
Maintenance Easier fixed-site maintenance Requires mobile service planning
Typical Use Limestone aggregate, cement material, fixed crushing line Concrete recycling, road project, demolition waste

How to Choose the Right Impact Crusher

Impact crusher selection should start from real working conditions instead of only comparing model names. A model with higher capacity is not always the best choice if the feed size, discharge requirement or wear condition does not match.

Selection Factor What to Confirm Why It Matters
Material type Limestone, concrete, asphalt, dolomite, coal gangue Determines crushing duty and wear level
Material hardness Soft, medium-hard or hard material Affects rotor load and blow bar wear
Abrasiveness Low, medium or high wear condition Influences blow bar and liner selection
Maximum feed size Largest side length of incoming material Must match feed opening and chamber design
Required capacity Target output in t/h Determines model size and motor power
Required discharge size Final product size range Affects impact plate gap and screen matching
Moisture or clay content Dry, wet or sticky feed Sticky material may reduce efficiency
Crushing stage Primary, secondary or shaping Confirms whether impact crusher is suitable
Installation type Stationary or mobile plant Affects layout and quotation scope
Spare parts Blow bars, liners, impact plates, bearings Reduces downtime risk during operation

 Model Selection by Working Condition

Working Condition Recommended Direction Review Point
Small feed size and low output PF-0807 or PF-1008 Suitable for small crushing tasks
Medium feed size and 50–120 t/h output PF-1010 or PF-1210 Common for secondary crushing
Feed size up to ≤300 mm PF-1214 Suitable for medium-capacity aggregate line
Capacity around 160–250 t/h PF-1315 Review motor power and wear-part plan
Higher capacity up to 300 t/h PF-1320 Requires stable feeding and line matching
Large output around 300–350 t/h PF-1515 Check foundation, motor power and downstream screen
Temporary or recycling project Mobile impact crusher Review chassis, feeder, conveyor and power system
